Where Do You Get Your Ideas?

One of the most frequently asked questions that authors get is where we get our ideas.

I answer that question as it pertains to me in the Dreamspinner blog today.

So if you're wondering where I got the ideas on which Short Order is based, go to the blog piece to find out.

Throwback Thursday Post at Grace R. Duncan Blog

Hey, there! Today my Throwback Thursday blog piece featuring Relative Best and its overriding theme of making a family that works for you is up at Grace R. Duncan's website.

I wrote this book for those whose biological families have abused or abandoned them in order to give them hope. There is a family out there looking for you or even better you can gather other people who are in a similar situation and make your own family.

The bottom line in this novella is that no one has to be alone in life, but it's up to us to find a caring, loving circle of people who support us in our endeavors.

Peace.

In the Planning

The next book in the Foothills Pride series, tentatively titled Wood Worked Love, will give readers a look at Guy Stone's big brother. Guy is one of the main characters in What's in a Name? and has been running Stonewall Saloon by himself while his brother was in the Army.

Now retired, Eric Stone needs time to get his head together about what he wants to do in civilian life. Since Matt Comstock is in Stone Acres to restore the Stone family cabin and barn to turn them into a history museum, Guy urges Eric to help him.

Neither Eric nor Matt is looking for love, but cupid is stalking them. How good are they at evasion? Or will love's arrows find them? Stay tuned to find out.

If you have read or heard What's in a Name?, now's a good time to catch up while I write Wood Worked. You can buy a copy of the eBook or audio at:

Queue of Prism Book Alliance Likes The Orpheum Miracle

Queue of Prism Book Alliance says of The Orpheum Miracle

I chose this one because I’ve liked Pat Henshaw’s other books. She does great with real emotion without adding too much angst. That’s one reason this story worked. Additionally the lack of over-the-top cheese that is so prevalent in Christmas stories endeared me even more.

Check out this lovely reviPrism Book Alliance.

Wonderful Foothills Pride News

A building not unlike Stone Acre's Hardware Store
It's a dreary Monday morning here in usually sunny Sacramento, so I didn't really expect much excitement coming my way.

However, I received a contract offer from Dreamspinner Press for Frank at Heart, the story of the big-hearted bastion of Stone Acres, California. Frank McCord runs the hardware store where his father and grandfather worked before him.

At the beginning of the story, Frank is in the doldrums, unsatisfied with his staid life and the rut he's dug for himself.

Into his life walk Silicon Valley software developer Christopher Darling and his teenage son Henry. Suddenly Frank's world becomes wider and richer as they all work through personal adversity.

Redesigning Max Goes Audio

Narrator David Ross has wrapped up taping for Redesigning Max, the second of the Foothills Pride series. The audio will be available in three weeks from Audible, and shortly afterward from Dreamspinner Press and Amazon.

Ross also narrated What's in a Name?, the first series book, and will start working on Behr Facts, the third Foothills book. I absolutely love his voice and hope that fans of the series do too.

Short Order Won't Release in 2016

Short Order, a holiday-themed story in the Foothills Pride series, won't release this holiday season, but will be published in December 2017.

I'm not sure how this will reorder the series at this time, but when I find out, I'll reveal it.

Here's how I envision Blue Cottage, the Stone Acres residence that is the main site in Short Order. The photo was taken by my daughter when we visited her in Vermont last year.
