Who Should Play Fen and John in Short Order?

I answer that and other burning questions at Stories That Make You Smile today.

Who do you think would be good at playing the two lead men in the story? (Think cute short men! No beefy hunks need apply. Sorry, Armie Hammer!)

Where Do You Get Your Ideas?

One of the most frequently asked questions that authors get is where we get our ideas.

I answer that question as it pertains to me in the Dreamspinner blog today.

So if you're wondering where I got the ideas on which Short Order is based, go to the blog piece to find out.

Throwback Thursday Post at Grace R. Duncan Blog

Hey, there! Today my Throwback Thursday blog piece featuring Relative Best and its overriding theme of making a family that works for you is up at Grace R. Duncan's website.

I wrote this book for those whose biological families have abused or abandoned them in order to give them hope. There is a family out there looking for you or even better you can gather other people who are in a similar situation and make your own family.

The bottom line in this novella is that no one has to be alone in life, but it's up to us to find a caring, loving circle of people who support us in our endeavors.

Peace.

Introducing Frank and Christopher

Here's how viewpoint character Frank McCord describes himself in Frank at Heart:

The men in my family were clones of my grandfather as far as appearance went. We’re all tall, thin, and geeky, with prominent Adam’s apples, pale blue eyes, and dirt brown hair. The only differences began internally and seeped out externally as people got to know us. My grandfather was addicted to Stoker’s chewing tobacco and Jim Beam, but only indulged outside work hours. Dad, on the other hand, at least early in my life, found religion and shunned all things mind-altering, except the Good Book.

I’d strayed from the straight and narrow after my preteen years. But I didn’t advertise it. My persona as helpful Frank McCord had long ago marked and unsexed me around here. Coming out wouldn’t serve any purpose now.

So I had spent years watching men come and go without a problem. Not this time. This stranger I wanted to meet and get to know. But how did other men do that?

I was still working on the answer.

Cover artist AngstyG took that description and came up with the cover. I think she did a terrific job, don't you?

Open Skye Book Reviews is hosting a cover reveal today, so you can go see all about the book including an excerpt and a handyman gift card giveaway. So be sure to visit their site and enter the drawing.

In the Planning

The next book in the Foothills Pride series, tentatively titled Wood Worked Love, will give readers a look at Guy Stone's big brother. Guy is one of the main characters in What's in a Name? and has been running Stonewall Saloon by himself while his brother was in the Army.

Now retired, Eric Stone needs time to get his head together about what he wants to do in civilian life. Since Matt Comstock is in Stone Acres to restore the Stone family cabin and barn to turn them into a history museum, Guy urges Eric to help him.

Neither Eric nor Matt is looking for love, but cupid is stalking them. How good are they at evasion? Or will love's arrows find them? Stay tuned to find out.

If you have read or heard What's in a Name?, now's a good time to catch up while I write Wood Worked. You can buy a copy of the eBook or audio at:

Another Terrific Audio Review

I'm not quite sure how to keep up with the audio reviews because when I do a Google search, it seems I find another one. Which is great--don't get me wrong!

But still, I wish I knew about them as they ran so that I could tell everyone about them.

The latest is an audio review of Redesigning Max, #2 in the Foothills Pride series, from TTC Books and Review. The reviewer calls is an "allover good romance" which really made my evening.

Coffee Card Giveaway and New Year's Resolutions

I'm at Joyfully Jay today talking about New Year's Resolutions which I rarely make. I don't know what motivated me this year, but you can now read what I'm hoping to accomplish.

If you comment between now (January 9, 2017) and January 11, 2017, you can enter to win one of the $10 coffee cards I'm giving away. Remember that just because it's called a coffee card, you don't have to order coffee--in case you're like me and drink tea instead.

If you're one of the lucky winners, be sure to sit back, relax, and enjoy your cuppa of choice! Good luck!
