Four Wonderful Release Day Reviews

Relative Best released today, and three terrific blogsites gave it good reviews! Let's concentrate on those today, shall we? You can read the full reviews by clicking on the names of the blogs.

MM Good Book Reviews gave the book 5 stars and said these very nice words about it:

"This is an enjoyable story and a great addition to the series. I found this to be full of emotion and fully relatable."

"When Vic finds the picture he was looking for and has a pretty bittersweet moment about it, Zeke gets to come to the rescue with his words and it was a lovely, lovely speech. 'To two puzzle pieces completing the world’s smallest puzzle.' I loved that.
"This is a sweet, pretty angst free story, easy to read and quick."

MM Book Escape: 4 stars

"I enjoyed the story, however, I think I would have liked it better had the author given more page time to Vic and Zeke and maybe less history of the hotel."

"Overall, I enjoyed reading Relative Best; it’s a heart-warming story in a rustic contemporary setting that feels authentic and is well-suited to the storyline. The characters are relatable, the villains are believable, and the supporting cast has a delightful quirkiness to it. The story is not sexually explicit, so for first-time M/M readers, it makes for a great introduction to the genre."

Thank you for the wonderful release day reviews!

How Did the Foothills Pride Series Start?

Today on the MM Good Book Reviews blog site, I talk about how I fell into writing the Foothills Pride series.

I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to do what I love--writing--and entertain people at the same time.

As I say in the blog piece, writing books and becoming an author have been dreams of mine for a long time. Having a series with so many books published overwhelms me when I stop typing and think about what's come so far and what I see for the future.

Below is a list of the series so far with links in case you want to buy the books:

#1 What's in a Name? Dreamspinner, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ARe, Kobo, Google Play
#2 Redesigning Max Dreamspinner, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ARe, Kobo, Google Play
#3 Behr Facts Dreamspinner, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ARe, Kobo, Google Play
#4 When Adam Fell Dreamspinner, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ARe, Kobo, Google Play
#5 Relative Best Dreamspinner, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, ARe, Kobo
#6 Short Order - to be released in December 2016/January 2017
#7 The Right Sort - to be submitted to Dreamspinner August 15, 2016

You can read books #1 - #4 in the paperback, Foothills Pride, Vol. 1 from these online retailers: Dreamspinner, Amazon, Barnes & Noble

And below are the books I'm working on for 2017. None of them have been accepted by Dreamspinner yet, so the titles and plots are speculative at this point.

#8 Seared: Marshall O'Shea buys Tommy Thompson's Original Steakhouse and wants to turn it into a family fun center. He never expected to fall in love until he met a special Stone Acres' resident who's appeared in other books in the series. (I've just started writing this one for submission in October.)

#9 Artistic License: Vic Longbow's stepbrother Hayden Weller opens an art gallery in Stone Acres and doesn't want to include any of Fredi Zimmer's work. Fortunately, Fredi has an ally in town who pleads his case and falls for Hayden.

#10 Buckaroo: The Christmas holidays are tough for itinerant cowboy Jake Vons, who decides to drown his sorrows at Stonewall Saloon, only to be yanked from the doldrums by Stone Acres' newspaperman Tony Donner, who struggles to put out the weekly rag and keep up the town bulletin board.

And Thank You to These Wonderful Reviewers Too!

Here's the second half of the reviews I promised in my last blog post. Thank you so much to all the reviewers who took the time to read and respond to When Adam Fell. I can never convey how much your time and consideration mean to me.

Pat Henshaw can pull me through a story like no other. When Adam Fell is the fourth book in her Foothills Pride series and is just as interesting as the others.

I loved that we get to see Adam’s story. He was intriguing when we saw him in previous books with his quirky mountain bistro that’s only open seasonally. But I so didn’t expect what we got. It was heartwarming to see this second time around story go so well.

The story is just enough to get your teeth into it and connect with the characters. I love these Foothills Pride novellas. I want more of them so we can see how the town evolves and develops and so all of my favorite characters can get their happily ever afters. The one I want the most next is John’s story. He’s intriguing with how tight lipped about his private life he is.

I simply love returning to Pat Henshaw’s world of the Foothills Pride series, where a community in Sierra Foothills near San Francisco is the location for a small group of gay men to settle and call home.

If you’ve been reading the Foothills Pride series this is another satisfying instalment. If you’ve not read the books, while this reads well as a standalone, I think it would be nice to go back and read the first three – if not for anything else you get to read about other charming characters such as Fredi, Max, Jimmy and Guy.

Bike Book Reviews: 5 double fudge brownie/5

It is no secret that I love this series, I have loved the guys of Foothills Pride from day one, and I knew I would love this book too, and boy did I! Pat Henshaw outdid herself on this one!

Love Bytes: 4 1/2/5

I loved the continuing tale of Stone Acres and how these two men fit in with the other men and background characters we’ve met in previous stories.  I really feel like Stone Acres, California is a real place, and I could stop by and visit.

I would highly recommend you pick up this series.  The novellas could probably be read as standalones, but take my advice, read them in order.

I highly recommend this book, and the entire series.  Enjoy.

Joyfully Jay: 3 1/2/5

Overall, this was a nice addition to a great series. While not my favorite of the series, I got a chance to meet back up with some of my old favorites. If you are a fan of this series, you don’t want to miss this one.

On the other hand, I enjoyed the plot of Adam trying to reestablish himself in the town he grew up in. I liked the quirky drama and the way it was resolved. The overall story was promising, and I enjoyed it.

Oh My Shelves: 3 1/2 / 4

Seeing David and Adam work together, to learn how to be with one another after being apart and yet having the history they do between them was bittersweet. I kept wanting them to give in and do more than just lie on a bed while mattress shopping, I wanted these to heal and be together again.

Jessie G. Books: 3.75 / 5

…ultimately, I liked Adam and Jason/David. I like that they found each other again and were able to love each other again…

This is the first book I've read by Pat Henshaw, and I'll definitely be reading more by this author in the future.  When Adam Fell is a good, quick read and is a second chance romance.

It’s breezy and shiny with a “we’ll conquer their town!” spirit that’s just a shade light. I’m always happy to see bullies and bigots get shafted, and you can expect that happens here.

I'm Back and Doing a Little Happy Dance

After a wonderful five days at Pacific Grove, California, where I wrote chapters in the fifth next Foothills Pride story, came up with a Stone Acres Old Town map, and generally relaxed in between, I came back to find this wonderful review by MM Good Book Reviews!

Wow!  That's all I can say.  Talk about take my breath away!  Here's part of what the reviewer says,

When I read book 1 of this series, What’s in a Name? I had no idea that it was the start of the series. Now that I’ve devoured book 2, Redesigning Max, it is official, I love Pat Henshaw’s books.

As if that weren't good enough, the review gets even better!

Thank you, Prime!  I really appreciate your kind words.

If you haven't read either What's in a Name? (the first Foothills Pride story) or Redesigning Max (the second, but not sequel), you can order them from Dreamspinner Press by clicking on the titles above, from Amazon using the links on the right of this post or from anyone selling eBooks online.

Pat Henshaw has delivered a wonderful tease! I so want more, more, more! I absolutely loved this short book and can’t wait for more of the story.

From MM Good Book Reviews (5 stars):

This is one pretty damn cool and well-written story.
I really enjoyed the pacing and the cast of characters in this book. This is the type of book you can sit back and just read without thinking too much.

From The Novel Approach (5 stars):

This is an absolutely brilliant book. I loved it. Pat Henshaw has written a very funny novella that gave me a taste of her style and left me wanting more.

This is such a fun story; I will re-read it often. The MCs are well developed, and I loved watching them fall in love. It was quick but it felt good, and I know that I will never be bored with the humor and empathy the story is told with. Well done, Pat Henshaw, on writing an original story with lots of room for more. I look forward to the next book in the series.

the witty dialogue, the fun these two men have, the way they connected, and Guy’s ability to pull out some awesome dates was all so perfect and written so well.

This book is tucked away in my favorites to pull out when I need to remember than love can happen for all of us if we look in the right place.
